CCC (China Compulsory Certification)

The China Compulsory Certification (CCC) mark, which we often see on many imported products, is a product conformity, testing, and certification process similar to the European Union CE certification. CCC certification has been mandatory for products imported into China since 2002. Only CCC-certified products are permitted to circulate freely in the Chinese market and can be imported. Failure to comply with CCC requirements may result in imported goods being detained at customs or returned to the sender. Similarly, the misuse of CCC licenses or the unauthorized use of the CCC mark on uncertified products may result in fines and penalties. Even if a product does not require China Compulsory Certification, a customs officer may request a CCC certificate if deemed necessary. Therefore, Customs Clearance Certificates are recommended to prevent potential issues related to importation. China Compulsory Certification (CCC) has two main components: product testing (certified products are sent to testing laboratories in China) and factory inspections (manufacturers are inspected by Chinese auditors). The certificate is valid for five years, but annual follow-up inspections are required. CCC, with technical support, the entire process is completed within 4-5 months. Without technical support, the certification process takes approximately 6-18 months.
